Context
My Honours Project for BSc Sound Design at Edinburgh Napier University.
Summary
Inspired by the likes of Celeste and Animal crossing, I wanted to create a game development tool that allowed designers easy control over vocal emotion within 'gibberish' speech. By using this tool audio designers can circumnavigate the need to pre-record/create speech samples for each emotion.
After reviewing previous literature on vocal affect expression and encoding emotion in speech I applied my findings to the tool which is created within Unity using C#.
The tool can accept input text, change emotion and emotional intensity based on selection, and generate the gibberish speech from any sample audio source provided. There is scope to allow users to create their own emotion presets, and for the tool to accept text from internal systems.

3 months literature review.
3 months tool design and development.
1.5 month evaluation and write-up (to do).
